We’re so HAPPY that she’s back!
According to Russian club team Uralochka, Zhenya will rejoin the team for the 2014-2015 season.
In case you didn’t know, the 38 year old went on a maternity leave last year and gave birth to her second son with husband Jeremy Estes.
We don’t think she has plans to rejoin the National Team at all. We believe that her final journey with Russia was at the 2012 London Olympics. Although Zhenya, Sokolova, Gamova and Team finished 5th, at least she has 3 Olympic silver medals under her belt (1992, 2000 and 2004). The silent but deadly Artamonova has played in 6 consecutive Olympic Games (1992-2012). Now that’s just AMAZING!
We wish her the best in the upcoming season. Knowing that Cuban star Yumilka Ruiz is reportedly on the team, it’d be great to see 2 legends from the 90s to still be playing the game.

TRIVIA: Evgenia Estes Artamonova was just 17 when she competed at her first Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992.
