Just In: Poland Hires Anastasi!

Watch Out Team Italy!

Former Italian coach, Andrea Anastasi, is the now the official coach of Poland’s men’s volleyball team.

We love Andrea and We respect the Polish Federation but why can’t the Polish Team have a Polish coach? Previous coaches were Raul Lozano, Daniel Castellani and now Anastasi. Well for sure they know what they’re doing. Didn’t the Polska Federation ask Coach Hugh McCutcheon too? Dang!

Anyways, Anastasi’s departure from the Italian team didn’t end on a clean slate. We think he was a little upset and we would be too! We thought he did a great job taking Savani, Parodi, Vermiglio and Team to a 4th place finish last year at the World Championship. Honestly, we didn’t expect Italy to go that far but they played great volleyball to fight for a medal but Brazil demolished them in the semis and Serbia was too strong during the bronze medal match.

Well, we wish Anastasi the best with his new team. For sure, he can further develop the Polish program and help them defend their title later this year at the European Championship and hopefully book a ticket for the 2012 Olympics. Tough jobs ahead but for sure Anastasi can handle it as long as Winiarski, Wlazly, Zagumny, Kurek and Gruszka stay on the team and remain in great shape. Poland is still one of the best teams in the world!

Congrats Coach for your new job! Don’t forget to update your resume.

Side Dish: His predecessor, Daniel Castellani, is now the NEW coach of Finland’s men’s team and Fenerbahce (Turkish club team). To READ more about Castellani’s new positions, click THIS.
