Iran’s Farhad Zarif Retires

Iranian fans will miss you Farhad!

Coach Julio Velasco’s libero has announced his retirement after Iran finished 4th at the 2013 FIVB Men’s World Grand Champions Cup. The 30 year old wants to focus more on his family life after a successful journey with the national team.

Farhad Zarif achievements include winning the 2011 & 2013 Asian Championship and he has also competed at the 2013 World League and 2012 World Cup just to name a few. Individually, he has won the following awards:

The best digger on the Asian Youth Boy’s Championship (2001)
The best receiver on the Boy’s Youth World Championship (2001)
The best receiver on the Asian Junior Men’s Championship (2002)
The best receiver on the Men’s Junior World Championship (2003)
The best libero on the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship (2011)
The best libero on the Olympic 2012 Qualification Tournament (2012)
The best libero on the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship (2013)
The best libero on the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Grand Champions Cup (2013)

If you decided to return Farhad, there’s always room for you. Your amazing libero skills have helped Iran achieved amazing results in the last few years.
