The Rise of Fenerbahce

We have a feeling they’re going to win the Turkish League!

We all know Ivan Miljkovic, Leonel Marshall and Team Fenerbahce had a disastrous Champions League despite being one of the pre-favorites to win the crown. The most publicized club team of the 2010/2011 season failed to advance to the second round. Then they had to sack their coach and replaced him with Daniel Castellani.

It seems like Castellani has King Midas’ Golden Touch. Since he took over, Fenerbahce finished with a silver medal at the Turkish Cup and after a rough season in the Turkish League the team is competing in the Final Round against Arkas Izmir (2010/2011 Turkish Cup Winner).

Fast Forward…

In Game 1 of the Championship Round, Fenerbahce outclassed Arkas in 4 sets. Ivan “The Terrible” Miljkovic delivered one of the best games this season by firing 21 points for the victory. Great to hear he’s back on track! Great to hear he’s playing much better compared to previous matches!

Result: 27-25, 17-25, 25-22, 25-16

Championship Round Schedule: Best-of-Five Playoff

Game 2 (April 22): Fenerbahce Istanbul – Izmir Arkas
Game 3 (April 24): Fenerbahce Istanbul – Izmir Arkas
Game 4 (April 27): Arkas Izmir – Fenerbahce Istanbul
Game 5 (April 29): Arkas Izmir – Fenerbahce Istanbul

In case you didn’t know, Ivan planned to leave the team earlier this year due to internal conflict. He asked for a release and was planning on playing for an Italian club team. Well, we’re glad the issues have been fixed and that Ivan has decided to stay. Whew!

We’re really proud of this victory! Go Go Go Fenerbahce!

On the other hand, we wish both teams the best and may the best team wins.
