The 2011 Belgian Cup Goes To…

Knack Randstad ROESELARE!

The City of Antwerp welcomed more than 5,200 fans in this year’s Belgian Cup! An epic 5 set battle was won by Roeselare against Noliko MAASEIK : 20-25, 25-22, 24-26, 26-24, 17-15.  Looking at the scores, it looks like the match was very thrilling!

Take note, this was the 7th time these teams played for the final of the National Cup. Roeselare has 4 titles while Maaseik has 3.

“Honestly, I could not think about winning the cup having to divert two match balls, but we were fighting for victory till the last moment and we succeeded.” says Roeselare captain Frank Depestele.

Side Dish: Noliko Maaseik has advanced to the next round of the Champions League and will play against JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel of Poland. The winner will advance to the Final Four hosted by 2010 Club World Champs, BetClic Trentino. Roeselare qualified to the Playoffs of 12 but lost the “golden set” against Belchatow (Poland). It’s been a successful year for Belgian volleyball.
