Nalbert, Bovolenta & Lebl Retire

Even if they have officially retired from the sport, they will forever be remembered.

Nalbert (born March 9, 1974) is a Brazilian professional volleyball player. He was born in Rio de Janeiro. Nalbert is 195 cm (77 in) and plays as passer-attacker. With Brazil national team he won two World Leagues (2003 and 2004), one World Cup (2003), a World (2002) and on Olympic gold medal.

Last Thursday, Nalbert played his last match in front of thousands of fans at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho in Rio De Janeiro. He played in a friendly match with Brazilian club team RJX Vole Rio de Janeiro versus Florianopolis SKY Cimed (25-17, 25-19, 18-25, 16-25, 13-15).

After 21 years of playing & 553 matches in the Italian League with 2 titles, 2 Champions League crowns, a silver medal from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, 4 World Cups and many more, the Italian middle blocker decided to rest his volleyball laurels.

Martin Lébl (born April 12, 1980 in Prague) is a volleyball player from the Czech Republic, who competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the beach volleyball competition alongside Michal Palinek. As an indoor player he became Best Attacker at the 2001 European Championship, where the men’s national team ended up in fourth place. With Lube Banca Marche Macerata he played at the 2008-09 Indesit Champions League and also was individually awarded “Best Spiker”.

Other notable male national players who have retired from the sport are Lloy Ball French players Stephane Antiga, Hubert Henno and Oliver Kieffer.

We’re a bit sad that we won’t see them on the court anymore but we know in our hearts that they will be very much involved with the sport off the court. These great players have inspired volleyball fans from all over the world and their legacies will forever be treasured.
