Anastasi is OUT!
Former coach of Finland’s national team, MAURO BERRUTO, is now the NEW coach of the Italians!
Honestly, we are not that excited. We think/thought Anastasi did a good job this season. Like what we said before, the Federation needs to REBUILD their men’s team and we don’t think replacing the coach was the BEST way to deal with the team’s poor/unsatisfactory/forgettable performances since 2008. It’s time to give the young players the chance to gain valuable experience. Time for the veterans to rest their laurels. Other European teams are getting stronger which means that Italy’s chance of making it to the 2012 Olympics is getting tougher and tougher.
On the other hand, we wish coach Berruto the best! Hope he leads the Italian team back to the top of international volleyball.
As for Anastasi, take the coaching position in Poland!
