Zorzi’s Suggestions For USA & Japan

Do you agree with the Italian volleyball legend?

Per FIVB:

Andrea Zorzi takes a look back on the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Grand Champions Cup and reviews each of the six teams and their performances during the competition, which saw Brazil take the top spot on the podium with a mere one point ahead of arch rivals Russia while Italy took home the bronze medal.

In his assessment Zorzi believes that Iran should be satisfied with their performance at the World Grand Champions Cup even though they did not medal, as they have shown themselves to be a fast developing team, able to compete with the best in the world.

The former Italian star and double world champion (in 1990 and 1994) states that while Brazil have shown they are capable of working and fighting hard to make the most of their talent, it is the Russian team who he considers to be the best and strongest in the world.

Talking about Italy’s performance at the tournament, Zorzi states that although the team have shown a good mix of strength and talent, they must move their energy away from focusing on their youth and inexperience if they are to advance and improve.

Zorzi also notes that US team lack a talented receiver, which has made their attack system more predictable. In his final assessment of the host team, Zorzi urges Japan to review their programme and introduce younger players into the team to compete more strongly in future international tournaments.
