Watch Out For This New Banned Substance!
Per FIVB:
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has issued an alert to warn athletes about the health risks of the black market substance GW501516. The agency warning is addressed to athletes, sports organisations and anti-doping bodies to ensure that there is complete awareness of the possible health risks of using GW501516 for performance enhancement.
GW501516, a developmental drug, was withdrawn from research and terminated when serious toxicities were discovered in pre-clinical studies. Clinical approval has not, and will not, be given for this substance. The drug has been available for some months on the black market, through the internet and elsewhere. Anti-Doping authorities have already detected its use, having identified a number of positive cases among athletes.
