Despaigne’s Career says “BRB”!

6 months go fast BB, so we hope you can wait until December 31st, 2011 to receive your International Transfer Certificates (ITCs) from the FIVB and then resume your professional career. This decision was based on FIVB’s “Umbrella Rule”.

Rolando Jurquin Despaigne signed 3 separate contracts in Italy, Greece and Brazil during the 2010/2011 season which prompted the Italian and Brazilian Federations to file a complaint against the Cuban athlete.

He really wanted to sail in 3 oceans but maybe he forgot he’s only got one ship. LOL!

FIVB President Jizhong Wei said that the FIVB has a strong interest in seeing all volleyball parties honouring the contracts they sign. “This applies even more in cases of athletes who are benefiting from the FIVB umbrella rule in order to pursue their professional career in volleyball.” the President added.

We think the decision is FAIR.

We wonder what in the world was he thinking when he signed 3 contracts – we repeat 3 contracts!

Anyways, this case is resolved and we hope the 24 yr old has learned a lesson.

Keyword: LEARN.

Despaigne’s case sends a strong message to other athletes to be very cautious with their decisions involving their pro career.

Honor Thy Contract (just 1 pls!).

Thoughts?
