Their Mission

To support World ParaVolley with the growth of Sitting Volleyball, by providing developing programs with a resource that focuses on the inclusive and accessible natures of the sport.

(World ParaVolley is the International Sports Federation governing Sitting Volleyball, Sitting Beach Volleyball, Standing Volleyball, Standing Beach Volleyball).

VolleySLIDE Overview

Sitting Volleyball is one of the fastest and most entertaining sports in the Paralympic Games.  It is also one of the most inclusive and accessible community activities, where anyone and everyone can play alongside and against, anyone and everyone.

VolleySLIDE is a concept that has grown out of the 2012 Paralympic Games which focuses on five unique elements of the sport of Sitting Volleyball:

Simple – easy to play, you just need a ball and something to act as a net

Liberating – by allowing individuals to get out of their wheelchair/take their prosthetics off

Inclusive – at club level, anyone can play with and against anyone

Different – it is played sat on the floor, sliding around on your bum

Enjoyable – a fast and exciting team sport for all

The word ‘Volley’ shows the link with Volleyball, and ‘SLIDE’ emphasises the movement, speed and fun. #slideintovolleyball
