Volleywood’s BEST Volleyball Players Of 2017

Best Outside Hitter: Zhu Ting (China)

For the second straight year, Volleywood fans have voted Zhu Ting as the Best Outside Hitter Of 2017. The Chinese volleyball superstar had an amazing 2017.

ZHU TING IN 2017: CEV Champions League MVP / Turkish League Best Outside Spiker /Turkish League “Best Scorer” / FIVB Club World Championship “Best Outside Spiker” / FIVB Club World Championship MVP / FIVB Grand Prix “Best Outside Spiker” / FIVB World Grand Champions Cup “Best Outside Spiker” / 2017 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup MVP / 2017–18 Turkish Cup “Most Valuable Player”.

HIGHEST PAID: The 23 year old is reportedly one of the world’s highest paid volleyball athletes. Her salary with Turkish club team VakıfBank Spor Kulübü is reportedly worth around $1.5 MILLION DOLLARS for 1 season.

Best Outside Hitter: Earvin Ngapeth (France)

2017 was both forgettable and unforgettable for the French athlete. He led Team Yavbou to win their second FIVB World League title within 3 years and he was named once again as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament on top of his Best Outside Spiker award. Professionally, Earvin and his Italian club team, Modena, won the 2016-2017 Italian SuperCup.

The 26 year old has some personal issues to deal with but no one can deny he is one of the world’s best!

Best Setter: Ding Xia (China)

Just like her superstar teammate Zhu Ting, 2016 Olympic Champion Ding Xia wins the Best Setter Award for the second straight year. The left handed playmaker was instrumental when China competed and won the 2017 FIVB Grand Champions Cup.

At the end of the FIVB Grand Prix last year, the 27 year old was named as the tournament’s Best Setter.

Best Setter: Simone Gianelli (Italy)

At 21, the world already knows the amazing talents of 2016 Olympic silver medalist Simone Giannelli.

Italy may have done poorly at the 2017 European Championship but Giannelli and team redeemed themselves at the FIVB Grand Champions Cup by defeating eventual champions Brazil and tourney favorites USA. Simo and Italy went home with a silver medal with Giannelli winning the Best Setter award.

Professionally, Giannelli led Trentino to finish second at the Italian Championship during the 2016-2017 season.
