The European Volleyball Confederation announces with great sorrow the untimely and tragic death of Bulgarian volleyball player Petar Kirchev.
The 38-year-old middle blocker passed away in a car crash, which occurred in foggy conditions on Wednesday morning.
Petar Kirchev was a team member of MONTANA and played in the Bulgarian Superliga. Between 2000 and 2013 he spent a total of seven seasons playing in the CEV European Cups for the teams of CSKA SOFIA (BUL), TOKAT Belediye Plevne (TUR), LukOil Neftohimik BURGAS (BUL), Posojilnica AICH/DOB (AUT) and Hypo NO AMSTETTEN (AUT).
The European volleyball family’s prayers go out to all of Petar’s friends and relatives.
