Polish Coach Andrzej Niemczyk Succumbs To Cancer

Sad day for Polish Volleyball and the volleyball community.

Former head of coach of the women’s team, Andrzej Niemczyk, passed away yesterday (June 2nd) after a long battle with cancer.

He was 72.

He first fought cancer in 2005 and survived the fight. Sadly, he faced another battle this year when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He bravely faced the battle but lost.

Coach Andrzej Niemczyk would be forever remembered as the man who led Malgorzata Glinka, Kasia Skowronska-Dolata, his daughter Małgorzata Niemczyk, Milena Rosner, the late Agata Mroz and the Polish team to win 2 European Championship crowns, 2003 and 2005.
