The Eclectic Fashionista

The Eclectic Fashionista by Kim Glass

I’d have to say that I dress how I feel. I’ve never been confined to looking one way, I feel like we shouldn’t have to put ourselves in a style box. I take an eclectic approach to my style, parallel with my taste in music-I really enjoy dresses and heels, and getting dolled up, and feeling glamorous. Although a piece of my heart harbors this grunge 80’s child.I love fur, & colors. I’ve been known to overdue accessories lol. In college I wore anywhere from 2-4 belts at a time haha. A part of me is this beach bumming, hippie bag-lady, while another part of me is downtown chic. When I’m in the U.S., outlandish nail designs are a part of my look. I go through my tomboy phases although I hardly wear sneakers. I probably have more heels than clothes. I love unique shoes. I love, love, love vintage shopping.

Whenever I would go home to Lancaster, my grandmother and I would go to Zap & Co., my favorite vintage shop before it burned down. I always found some classic pieces there. 1940’s Valentino Polka-Dot Dresses, beautiful vintage necklaces, & jazzy clutches. I think I’d wear more vintage clothing if I could find more in my size.

One thing I doubt you’ll catch me in: Ruffles. . . I think I look ridiculous.

Staple Piece of Jewelry: A Vintage Fish Bone necklace that I put on whenever I can.

My Go-To Shoe Right Now: Textured-leather biker boots w/ fur inside, they’re so comfy, warm and go w/everything (in my mind) lol

I’m obsessed w/pinky rings and anything w/ spikes.

I adore Maxi Dresses but they’re hard to find in my length

My Most Painful Shoes: Pigalle Spikes in Swarovski Crystal

Volleyball Shoes: I prefer anything Asiscs for vball, because they’re most comfortable to me.

Workout Shoes: I rock my Under Armour Run Sneakers -which are light, comfy, and good for mobility, and also keep your foot cool w/a mesh like top.

I have a fetish for U.S.A. gear, and one of my favorite bags is this Obnoxious

Star-Spangled Gym Bag by JoyRich

Going Out Clutch: A 1960’s over-sized foil clutch that I bought in perfect condition, but now has to be re-done.

One of my favorite dresses is one that I had this talented seamstress in the Czech Republic make…why? Because it’s SUPER LONG, comfy & colorful, and it was MY idea…(but I didn’t sew it, because I don’t know how to lol)

Favorite Designers: Matthew Williamson, Helmut Lang, Betsey Johnson, Alexander McQueen, Balmain.

One Fashion Show I’d Love to go to: John Galliano

Style Icons: Gwen Stefani, Daphne Guinness,Dita Von Teese, Victoria Beckham, Olsen Twins, Rachel Zoe

Books: I enjoy reading non-fiction books, but every now and then I dabble in fiction. Right now I’m reading two books… “The Art of War For Women,” and “Scar Tissue” by Anthony Kiedis (the singer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers).

I’m a lover of fashion, so how could I not adore the immense creative art from the worlds top designers? While I fall victim to lusting for their designs, I believe it’s not about who my clothing is by, but rather, quality, how it fits on me, how I wear it, and how it makes me feel. From Target to Neiman Marcus I think if you wear an outfit right, you can make ANYTHING look good!

Sparked by my own longing for affordable, fashionable clothing that fit my long limbs…. I’ve always wanted to own my own Tall Clothing Store since I was child. A store with quality, fashion forward clothing styles that not only just fit a tall woman’s body & shape, but really flatters it…Hopefully some day that dream will come true. :0}
