With a new coach comes several new faces as well on the German squad for the 2011 season…

Coach Raul Lozano is optimistic with his new group of players who are scheduled to compete in the 2011 World League and 2011 European Championship. “The FIVB World League is the most important competition whereby you can climb up to the international elite. Nowadays there is no national team which significantly improves without joining the FIVB World League. I think my team has not reached its maximum yet so we will work very hard this year to go for more” says Lozano.

Germany’s 2011 Squad:

Björn Andrae (Kemerovo/RUS), Robert Kromm (Ufa/RUS), Jochen Schöps (Odintsovo/RUS)

Simon Tischer (Ankara/TUR), Patrick Steuerwald, Sebastian Schwarz (Perugia/ITA), Marcus Popp (Piacenza/ITA)

Markus Steuerwald (Paris/FRA), Georg Grozer (Rzeszow/POL), Marcus Böhme, Lukas Bauer, Christian Fromm (VfB Friedrichshafen)

Jaromir Zachrich (evivo Düren), Ferdinand Tille, Denis Kaliberda (Generali Haching), Christian Dünnes, Stefan Hübner

Fabian Kohl, Merten Krüger, Max Günthör, Tim Broshog (Moerser SC), Ricardo Galandi (SCC Berlin)

Lukas Kampa (RWE Volleys Bottrop), Sebastian Kühner (CV Mitteldeutschland), Falko Steinke (EnBW TV Rottenburg).

In our opinion, Germany is one of the most improved European teams in the last 2 years. They had a great 2010 season finishing 8th at the World Champs and 9th at the World League. Lozano and Team want to make it to the World League Final Round this year which will be hosted by Poland.

With 7 new players on the squad & a few veterans, we hope that 2011 will be a great year for the Germans.

Viel Glück!
