Zenit Kazan & Alexey Spiridonov Part Ways

Time to move on…

Russian outside hitter Spiri did NOT do much this season at all.

He was mainly a bench player for his Russian club team, Zenit Kazan, which won the CEV Denizbank Champions League, Russian League, Russian Cup and Russian Super Cup.

If you have a Matt Anderson and a Wilfredo Leon on the team, what are your chances to be in the starting six? Close to zero.

That’s why totally understand the decision of both parties to part ways after a successful season.

The 2013 European Champion Spiridonov only has GREAT things to say about his 2 successful years with Kazan.

“I am grateful to Zenit for the last two seasons. I cannot complain, we won almost everything that we could. In Kazan, the fans treated me well and the club has left good memories. But it’s time to move on.”

The 27 year old will play for another Russian club team Enisey Krasnoyarsk.

One more season as a bench player for Spiridonov is NOT good for him at all.

We hope he finds success with his new team.
