From Becky Perry

Former University of Washing star player, Rebecca “Becky” Perry, has posted this sweet and inspiring message on her Facebook page last April 4th after the end of her pro-season in Puerto Rico.

In case you didn’t know, the 6’2 outside hitter spent most of 2012 recovering from a shoulder injury which required surgery. She signed on to play for a club team in Korea but she was released abruptly. Becky went to Puerto Rico but was released by the team who initially hired her due to her “physical condition”. A few weeks passed, Gigantes de Carolina called her up to play for them. Despite not making it to the Finals, Becky and her team managed to win matches but most of all felt the support and love from her teammates.

Becky’s words…

I have officially completed the first volleyball season after my shoulder surgery. I wish our team had made it farther than we did, but I am so grateful for a wonderful journey.

Back in January I had a rough time because people were falsely led to believe I was injured and no teams in Puerto Rico were willing to give me a chance. I want to thank the owners and coaches of Gigantes de Carolina for giving me that chance. I also want to thank my teammates for fighting next to me. I love you girls :). As the season went on I continued to fight and improve my skills and I am proud to be able to prove everyone that I am not injured, and haven’t been all season. I will never be able to repay this team and these girls for trusting me and giving me this opportunity.

To all the fans who never stopped believing in me (especially Jose and Emanuel-who came to every single one of my games) thank you. I am blessed to have such wonderful support. I have always loved playing in Puerto Rico because of the enthusiasm and pride from all the locals :).

I am more than excited to announce that I will be returning to Anaheim, CA this summer to train with the USA team. And I also want to thank Karch Kiraly for giving me that opportunity.

I am so thankful to my surgeon, my physical therapists, and Kevin Hitt for helping me return to volleyball, my first love :). This past year has been a battle to get healthy again and I couldn’t have done it without these people.

Remember…

“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”

♥!!!

We’re so glad you’ve made it through the rain Becky!

Your determination will for sure pay off!
