Jack Sintini Replaces Raphael

We have so much love and respect for Sintini.

In case you didn’t know, Trentino setter Raphael will miss the final match of the final round due to a broken finger. The Brazilian had surgery a few days ago. His recovery will take almost 2 months, therefore he is out of the Italian League Finals and will also miss training with the Brazilian team.

Here’s Raphael’s injury.

Ouch!

He might have had a painful experience but Raphael’s fighting spirit remains strong and intact. He is still very optimistic his team will play hard to win the Scudetto aka Italian League Crown.

Above all, Raphael strongly supports his teammate Giacomo “Jack” Sintini who will now be setting for Trentino tomorrow versus Luciano De Cecco, Alessandro Fei, Max Holt, Robertlandy Simon and Team Copra Piacenza.

Sintini has released this statement via legavolley.it:

“I am sincerely sorry for Raphael’s injury. My first thought goes to him. He does not deserve to end the season in such manner. He is strong, he has character, he will be ready in his mind even before he even physically recovers.

To get the chance to play due to an injured teammate is certainly not nice but I cannot think about that now. It’s my job to substitute him and I’ll do my best to help my team win the title.

It’s true I have not played much until now (the only game as starter goes as far back as December 12 in Belgrade in the Champions League) but I know my teammates well.I train with them every day, I am therefore not too worried and I want to reassure everyone. We have to play as a team, help each other through the tough times that there will surely be in such an important game.

The final series has been superb so far. Two exceptional teams who give & play their absolute best in every match. Game 5 will be a fantastic encounter. I can’t wait to play.

When I think about a year ago when I had yet to get medical permission to play professional volleyball after my illness.”

In case you didn’t know, Sintini is a cancer survivor and has resumed his volleyball career just last year. It’s going to be an epic battle tomorrow in front of a sold out crowd.

Jack, we know you’re going to play your best. You are a very strong person and a fighter.

You can do it Jack!
