Brazilian Volleyball League News

Since there’s quite a few updates on some of our favorite players from Brazil, we thought of just creating one post rather than overfeeding your Facebook News Feed.

So here we go…

MARCELINHO GETS 50%!

After a dramatic exit from his Brazilian club team, Sky Pinheiros, a couple of months ago, Marcelinho finally got paid! Well he didn’t get the full payment for his contract which was good until March/April 2012. His former employee paid him 50% of the contract. The amount was not disclosed but at least both parties could now move on and leave the drama behind.

The former setter of the Brazilian National Team (who won a SILVER medal in the 2008 Olympic) is now playing in Italy for Sisley Treviso. He replaced the injured Pierre Pujol from France who is suffering from “Cold Hands Syndrome”. Sisley Treviso currently ranks 5th in the prestigious Italian League.

Best Wishes!

NATALIA GETS DENIED!

Ouch!

Natalia Pereira & some of her Solly Osasco club teammates didn’t get any love from Pinheiros’ Management when the girls decided to watch the match between Pinheiros and Volei Futuro.

The silver medalist from last year’s World Championship and definitely one of the best young players in the world right now expected asked Pinheiros for VIP seats in the RESERVED section during the match but her request got denied and ended up sitting with the crowd.

Zing!

Natalia felt humiliated that she decided to unleash her disappointment on Twitter saying:

“Atitude lamentável por parte da diretoria do Pinheiros! Por isso que as coisas não vão pra frente”. (Google Translation: “Regrettable attitude by the board of the Pines! Why things do not go forward. “)

Girlfriend also added that the humiliation she went through with her teammates was an act of retaliation due to the rivalry between Osasco and Pinheiros.

Here’s our thoughts…

To avoid this from happening again, Maybe Natalia can ask before going or make prior arrangements. Also, never diss anyone on Twitter. It does not resolve the problem, it just makes it worse. Finally, we don’t think there’s anything wrong sitting with the fans (which Natalia did).

Just saying & we still LOVE you Natalia!

SERGIO’s FUTURE IS UNKNOWN…

Sad!

After a herniated disc surgery last July, one of the world’s best liberos from Brazil might not be returning to the National Team.

Sergio has expressed his doubts for the 2011 international season since he has not fully recovered from the injury which prevented him from competing at the 2010 World Championship. It was the young, Mario Jr., who replaced him and played a great tournament.

Coach Rezende has advised Sergio that he would not take him if he’s only 70% or 80% recovered. Yikes!

The 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist’s future is unknown at this point.

Well, take your time bb. We definitely want you back on the National Team. We think you and Mario Jr. are great liberos and the team would definitely need the 2 of you.

Recover Fast Sergio!

JAQUELINE RECOVERS SMOOTHLY…

Last February 9th, Endre Murilo’s wife went under the knife for a left knee arthroscopy at the Center for Sports Medicine HCOR. The surgery was conducted by the same doctor who treated Paula Pequeno, Dr. Rogério Olivi .

Knowing that this was the 3rd time she had knee surgery, Jaque was more calm before and after the procedure. “I am certainly motivated. As I went through two surgeries I am more relaxed with the third because I know how the pain is and what to do. I am very calm and think I can return as soon as possible…” she says.

More GOOD news…

Just last Monday, Jaque already started her physical therapy sessions to strengthen her knee and even uses the “underwater” method for a faster recovery.

Her recovery might take 6 to 8 weeks or even shorter.

In case you didn’t know, Jaque’s club team, Solly Osasco, won the Superliga last year and currently ranks 2nd in the league behind Sheilla and Team Unilever. Jaque was named as the MVP of the League last year.

INJURY PICs:

Be patient girlfriend. We know you will heal fast. We can’t wait to see you again!

We must admit, we miss your SCREAMING.

Hugs to Murilo!
