Scary and Sad…
1 person has reportedly died and 1 is injured from the gas explosion which happened yesterday in Baku, Azerbaijan.
In a Dec. 27th article released by http://en.apa.az:
According to the initial investigation, a gas leak was a reason for the explosion in a boiling-house of Lokomotiv sport complex.
Baku-APA. 49-year old Azerbaijani citizen Shahvalad Mammadov Mammad died, and 26-year old Elvin Gurbanov Imran injured as a result of the explosion, APA’s correspondent at the scene report.
Chief of the Risk Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Jahangir Gulamov told preliminary results of the incident to APA. According to the preliminary investigation the explosion occurred as a result of a gas leak in the boil-house of the sport complex.
According to our source, Lokomotiv Baku women’s volleyball team was inside the gym practicing when the explosion occurred. None of the players got injured. They safely left the venue.
In case you didn’t know, Korea’s Kim Sa Nee, USA’s Lauren Gibbemeyer & Alexis Crimes, Dominican Republic’s Priscilla Rivera and Croatia’s Katarina Barun play for the team.
Gibbemeyer was not present during this incident since she was on her way back to Baku after spending Christmas with her family in the US.
