Storm VS April Ross & Jen Kessy

STORM!

What have you done?

The Final Matches of the 2013 AVP St. Petersburg Open in Florida were by canceled by officials due to strong winds and heavy rain. The AVP has announced that the men’s final match has been rescheduled to September 26th in Manhattan Beach but the women’s event won’t get another chance.

The St. Petersburg Open was also the last match fans would get to see 2012 Olympic silver medalist Jen Kessy and April Ross playing together. April will play with Kerri Walsh while Jen is taking a break due to hip issues.

April has posted this on her FB Fan Page:

So we made it to the finals in the St. Pete AVP!! The stage was set for Jen and I to play in our last match together, but the weather had different plans for us… a storm swept in so fast I ended up bolting out of the player tent (that shortly blew over) to safety and forgot my shoes and two of my competition suits that are likely never to be seen again The police kicked everyone off the site and AVP was forced to cancel play for the rest of the day, meaning- no finals. Sad that we didn’t get to compete that one last time, but we did win our last match and tournament (Atlantic City) together and I’m stoked we can say that!! I’m extremely sad that Jen and I won’t be playing together anymore, but life would have us go in different directions and I look forward to being involved in each others lives and great friends for as long as life would have us Thanks to everyone who rode with us on this amazing journey and supported us the whole way!

Definitely more to come, this absolutely warrants a blog entry!

Yes! We want a full blog post about this April!

You and Jen played many wonderful years together which includes a Beach Volleyball World Championship Crown. We’re a bit sad you girls are moving on in separate ways but we know it’s for the best.

We’d miss your team up!
