Foro Italico Welcomes 11,000+ Volleyball Fans!

Volleyball History In Italia!


After 66 years, indoor volleyball returned to the Foro Italico yesterday by hosting the World League match between host Italia and Poland.

According to the FIVB stat, more than 11,000 fans witnessed the epic event.

More trivia from the FIVB:

*First time that the Tennis Centre has hosted a match and the first time that a fixture has taken place in the open air.
*Foro Italico hosted the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship and 2012 FIVB Grand Slam.
*Machines lined the court to stop too much condensation forming on the court.
*In case of rain the Italian Volleyball Federation has already provisionally booked the Palalottomatica arena in the EUR area of the city as a substitute venue.
