The Return of Kim Willoughby

She’s back!

After playing in Puerto Rico last season, 2008 Olympic silver medalist Kim Willoughby returns to Europe and will play for Azerbaijan’s Igtisadchi Baku. The American outside hitter will be on the same side of the court with Dutch superstar Manon Flier, Italian setter Valentina Serena & German libero Lenka Durr.

In case you didn’t know, Kim’s volleyball career took a rough path after the 2008 Olympics. In September 2008, she was arrested, was charged with first degree assault and eventually plead not guilty stemming from an incident in December 2006. In 2009, she was tested positive for a banned substance and received a 2 year suspension when she played for Italian club team, Perugia.

These days are all behind her now and she is set to embark a more exciting journey in Azerbaijan.

Aside from competing in the Azeri League, the 32 year old Kim and Igtisadchi Baku will play in the prestigious CEV Champions League.

All together now…

Welcome Back Kim & Best Wishes!
