Hector Soto To Play Beach

Just like Brazil’s Rodrigao, the Puerto Rican star switches to beach volleyball.

Starting this season, Hector “Picky” Soto officially leaves his indoor career behind as he attempts to make a name for himself in the world of beach volleyball.

Picky says:

“The time has come for me to pursue other alternatives and new things that can create new motivations. That’s why I will be training with our national beach volleyball players. Playing on the sand represents a new challenge and will allow me to have more time to spend with my family.”

The 34 year old just won the Puerto Rican League with Team Capitanes de Arecibo a few weeks ago. Soto has not revealed his beach partner but will make his beach debut next month in Cayman Islands for a NORCECA tourney.

Per FIVB:

During his time with the men’s national team, Puerto Rico won the gold medal at three Central American and Caribbean Games and took part in two FIVB World Championships and one FIVB World Cup. Soto, the top scorer of both the 2006 FIVB World Championship and the 2007 FIVB World Cup, played professional volleyball in the leagues of Tunisia, Japan, Russia, Belgium, Italy and Puerto Rico.
