Player Loses Finger

This one’s gotta hurt!

Last spring, a young volleyball player from Wisconsin lost one of her fingers after she tried to retrieve a volleyball. Mariah Yang climbed on closed bleachers to retrieve a volleyball but sadly her hand got stuck and fell on the floor. As a result of the injury, Mariah’s RIGHT PINKIE FINGER had to be amputated near the knuckle. Ouch!

Fast forward to today…

Her family sought $100,000 from the district to cover the girl’s medical bills and “past and future pain and suffering” but the district’s insurance company say that there was no negligence on the part of the district so both parties are taking the case to the next level. Here comes a LAWSUIT!

We wish everyone the best.

Most importantly, we’ve learned to always be SAFE and CAUTIOUS when we retrieve balls getting stuck on/behind/below the bleachers.

It’s not fun to lose a finger!

Be safe everyone!
