Anniversary Wishes from Bas Van De Goor

One of the world’s best players in the 90s! 1996 Olympic Champion from The Netherlands.

Wikipedia says that his national volleyball coach Joop Alberda referred to him as the ‘Michael Jordan of volleyball”.

Bas has started his own foundation called the “Bas Van De Goor Foundation” after being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in November of 2003. “At that time I was 32 years old and a professional volleyball player. Not being familiar with diabetes, I feared for my career. Soon after being diagnosed, I tried to find out as much as possible about diabetes and the possibilities of continuing to play sport.” says Bas.

Click THIS to check out his BVDG Foundation.

A Warm Embrace from Herosi Fundacja

We share the off-the-court charitable activities by volleyball players so we have created the Volleywood Causes category. One of the organizations we’ve supported within the last year is Herosi Fundacja or Herosi Foundation from Poland. Watch their sweet greeting for our anniversary and also learn about their mission.

“I have promised to Aneta and Herosi Foundation that Volleywood is always here to support them & share their mission to the rest of the volleyball world.” – Ace.

Grazie Italia!

Matt Anderson, Ryan Ammerman, Max Holt, Donald Suxho, volleyball fan Verena, Kristin Richards, Dore Della Lunga and Sisley Treviso in ONE EPIC VIDEO!

Within the past year, we’ve also received this pic from TRENTINO VOLLEY aka The world’s most decorated and most successful club team. We’d treasure this pic FOREVER!

Ciao!

From Russia With Love

Elizaveta Tishchenko‘s message really touched our hearts. We got teary eyed watching and listening to her. It’s a dream coming true to be in touch with the former middle blocker aka The Queen of Backslides. So inspiring!

We grew up watching Tishchenko when we first started watching the game in 1997. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Gamova and Mikhaylov for their sweet hellos. Two of the world’s biggest volleyball stars being part of our celebration is just unbelievable. Also, thank you to our good friend, K E BAIJU, from Doha for the pics of Volkov and Alekno.

We’ve also been given to chance to work with the FIVB Heroes Team. It’s been a great experience!

Fenerbahce Universal Angels Having So Much Fun!

With so many fans from Turkey, we did everything we could to make sure the Yellow Angels will be part of our celebration and represent Turkey. We’d like to thank Naz, Eda, Seda, Duygu Bal and the rest of the team for making this very cute video.

We wish you girls the BEST this season!

Beach Volleyball Players Bring Sunshine As We Celebrate!

Volleywood Love from Immaculate Heart Academy Volleyball

IHA’s women’s volleyball club team becomes the FIRST high school club team to be featured on Volleywood. The girls looked like they had so much fun making this vid. Check out the bloopers at the end of the video.

In case you didn’t know, Coack Mike and IHA Volleyball Club Team are the Bergen County volleyball champion! According to this article, they won “not because of its overwhelming strengths, but because of its complete lack of weaknesses in any phase of the game. The Blue Eagles passed better, hit better, returned serve better, limited their mistakes and forced Bogota into an uncharacteristic number of its own.”

Congratulations Blue Eagles and thank you to NorthJerseySports.com for the pic!

2008 Olympic Champions Greet Volleywood!

“This is an ultimate dream coming true. I never ever thought I would see them in one video appreciating the work I do for Volleyball.” says Ace. Lloy Ball, Reid Priddy, Riley Salmon, shirtless Richard Lambourne & a SURPRISE guest in 1 video is just EPICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC!

In case you’re wondering why we picked the “Don’t Stop Believing” song, well it’s because as far as we know this is the song Team USA listened to a lot during the 2008 Olympic Games. Also, Ace and The Volleywood Team never stop believing!

Before we forget, thank you FIVB for the pics in this video!

Deutschland Surprises!

So this is how much fun they have in their Locker Room? German club team VfB Friedrichshafen surprises us with one of the most entertaining videos we’ve ever received! This vid is loaded with stars like Matthew Denmark and Cory Riecks from USA, 2011 European Champion Nikola Rosic from Serbia and many more!!!

VfB has won the Champions League once, the German Cup 10 times and the German League 12 times. Check out their official Facebook Page by clicking THIS.
