Brazil Welcomes Sykora!

November 9th UPDATE: Sykora has finalyl returned to Brazil a few days ago and this is the kind of welcome she received. Volei Futuro and Brazil really LOVE her! She totally deserved this very warm welcome!

Watch the vid and enjoy Stacy’s Michael Jackson moves.

How come she didn’t get this kind of treatment when she returned to the US? We wish USA Volleyball would’ve done something for her.

Just Saying.

UPDATE: 1996 Olympian from Team USA, Bev Oden, from About.com has shared this video to us of Stacy Sykora’s day with her eye doctor of part of road to full recovery.

Bev Says…

So take a look at the article to read about what Stacy is doing to get back to her old ways and watch the video of Stacy at her vision training to see it for yourself. You can also read the transcript of the video. Keep a look out for more video subjects coming up as well and send in your ideas for future subjects which will cover everything from instruction to volleyball news.

UPDATE: Globo Esporte Interviews Stacy Sykora. We could be wrong but as far as we know this is Sykora’s FIRST VIDEO interview since the incident. We’d let you watch the video without spoiling it for you. We just want to say, we suppppppppppppeeeeeeeerrrrrrrr admire her strength, her passion for volleyball and her determination to play in London.

O M G!

She is back! The last thing she said about her return was:

“I’ve been in three Olympics and I had to battle to make those teams, and this will be a battle. It’s never easy…. But I don’t look at it like it’s going to be tough for me because I had this accident and had brain damage…. I’m not going to use that as a crutch…. If I make it, it would be wonderful, period. I don’t want it [to be thought of] as an inspirational story.”

Sykora is such a FIGHTER! Her strength is an inspiration to us all! We couldn’t stop jumping out of joy when we saw Stacy Sykora back on the court last Thursday playing with the rest of her teammates as Team USA prepares for the upcoming Pan American Games.

On the other hand, the scrimmage reunited 2008 Olympic silver medalists Danielle Scott-Arruda, Tayyiba Haneef-Park, Jen Tamas and Kim Glass. We don’t even remember the last time they played on the same team since their Stanford days but it was great to see Cass Lichtman, Alix Klineman and Cynthia Barboza together again. The pre Pan American scrimmage also welcomed the return of Keao Burdine who has returned to indoor volleyball after a not-so successful beach career.

Logan Tom, Jordan Larson and Foluke Akinradewo were spotted at the event as spectators held last Thursday. In case you’re wondering where libero Nicole Davis was, well as far as we know she had to fly to Italy to meet with her club team.

Call us emotional but we got teary eyed when saw Stacy Sykora’s pic wearing the USA uniform. With the challenges she went through and still facing, she has really showed what it takes to be strong and face the challenges in life.

Forca Stacy and Go USA!
