Sasa Starovic Is Injured!

Oh No! The Italian League just started and he’s already seriously injured!

This doesn’t look good for the young left handed opposite hitter…

The Serbian star who plays for Umbria Volley’s Energy Resources San Giustino has broken ligaments in his knee after an awkward landing. According to the 2011 European Champion, it could’ve due to wet spot on the floor. As soon as he landed, Sasa stayed on the floor and was in so much pain that he asked people surrounding him to  move over because he couldn’t breathe. He was then taken to the nearest hospital.

As far as we know, he’s scheduled to have surgery as soon as possible and he’s expected to recover in 6 months! Just because of that damn wet spot or weird surface, his professional career this season is pretty much over. After the surgery, Starovic will go through intensive physical therapy.

We feel so sad for him.

With this injury, he will miss the 2011 FIVB World Cup in a couple of months which means Serbia’s coach Kolakovic better start looking for another opposite to support Ivan Miljkovic at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament to be held in Japan.

We wish Sasa a speedy recovery!

Hang in there BB!
