Portugal Books 2012 WL Ticket

Great job BBs!

Portugal will make its second consecutive World League appearance after winning the 2012 Qualification Tournament against host China. Valdir Sequeira and Hugo Gaspar led Portugal to win the first match and to receive 3 full points. Despite losing the second match in 5, Portugal only needed one point to qualify which they accomplished.

In case you didn’t know, Portugal finished 14th at the 2011 World League.

Results + Stats for both matches:

Portugal had a successful 2011 World League campaign – in our opinion. They managed to defeat Finland twice and handed Serbia one loss which ruined their chances of advancing to the Final Round for the first time in many years.

With more international exposure, Portugal has what it takes to become a great European team.

We wish Portugal the best!

Side Dish: There’s only one spot left for the 2012 World League  and it will either go to Canada or Puerto Rico. The tournament takes place this weekend in Kingston, Canada.
