Players Unite For Safronova!

Natalya Safronova’s teammates continue their mission to help her by joining forces and  drawing media attention for a donation drive.

In case you didn’t know, the Russian outside hitter suffered a stroke in December 2009 during practice and she’s been showing signs of recovery since then. Natalya received treatment in Cologne, Germany and was transferred to Moscow, Russia to continue treatment for brain hemorrhage.

Russian players hosted an auction to raise for money for their friend and this time they are staging another fundraising event involving players from the 3 teams currently playing in the Semifinal Round of the Russian Super League. This how it works:

“According to the rules worked out for this campaign, the players, regardless of their roles (middle blockers, wing-spikers or opposites), will contribute 10 US$ for every single point they score in the upcoming games. As for the liberos, they will also donate 10 US$ for every single reception which is registered as “excellent” in the official stats of the matches. The performance of the setter, and therefore her financial contribution, will be determined by evaluating the efficiency of the attackers included in her team.”

It starts on April 29th and fans can check the stats by clicking THIS.

The participating players are 2010 World Champions Tatyana Kosheleva, Ekaterina Gamova, Maria Borodakova, Maria Perepelkina, Ekaterina Kabeshova & Evgeniya Startseva. Completing the list are other Russian League stars namely Elena Konstantinova, Olga Bukreeva, Natalya Rogacheva and Elena Ezhova.

We thank you deeply for doing this ladies! This means a lot to Natalya.

Also, fans from other parts of the world can donate. Please see information below:

We wish Natalya the best! <3
