Brazil Welcomes Their First Trans Player

TRANS POWER!

After the recent headlines about Tiffany Abreu, we’ve discovered another transgender player who currently plays in Brazil’s lowest women’s league.

Meet Isabelle Neris

The 25-year-old is the FIRST trans athlete to play in any women’s league in Brazil and she plays for VOLEIRAS.

The former hairdresser received her approval to compete as a woman from the volleyball state federation of Paraná. The process includes submission and confirmation of her new identity, legal document for her name change and hormonal tests.

The state of Paraná has reportedly requested from the Brazilian Volleyball Federation (CBV) further studies on the rights of trans players.

Tiffany Inspires Isabelle

“Tiffany’s story is my inspiration to never give up on my dreams. We must go after what we want. We are the generation of change. We should never give up on our dreams regardless if some will try to stop us.”
