Coach Andrea Giani Breaks Up With Slovenia

Oh No!!!

Slovenia is now looking for a new coach after Andrea Giani decided to resign. The decision was made yesterday and the Slovenian Federation has nothing but great words to say about Giani.

“Despite our efforts Andrea decided not to extend his contract as a head coach of our men’s team. He took the decision yesterday evening, together with his staff. We are sincerely thankful to Andrea for everything that he has done for Slovenian volleyball and Slovenian sport.” -Slovenia Volleyball President Metod Ropret

Under Coach Giani, Slovenia made history by winning the silver medal at the 2015 European Championship. The team won last year’s World League Group 3 and have moved to compete in Group 2 this year. Slovenia is also scheduled to try and qualify for the 2018 FIVB World Championship.

We hope Slovenia can hire another great coach.

On the other hand, the 3 time Olympics medalist Giani remains optimistic for the team’s future.

“I want to simply thank you for this opportunity you have given to me and for this great experience we lived together. Through many sacrifices we created a team with a great identity. Today we can feel proud of what we have achieved and I hope it will serve to you to grow further in your future.”

RUMOR HAS IT that Giani has been hired as the new coach of Iran. He may also be the new coach of Germany’s men’s team.

Slovenian players have remained quiet on social medai with Giani’s departure.

Good luck to Slovenia and Coach Giani as they both start a new chapter this year.
