Middle Blocker David Lee Is NOT Retiring Yet

Lee is staying until 2018 but ONLY if Coach Speraw needs him!

According to this FIVB article, 34 year old David Lee plans to stay with Team USA until the World Championship because it’s the only tournament where he has not won a medal.

“I would like to continue, that is the only thing I haven’t got in my career, a world championships medal. We’ve done world cup, we’ve done a few world leagues, Olympic Games. And that’s the one still left on the table. If he (Coach John Speraw) wants me I’ll be available, but that’s to be determined.”-David Lee

As for playing in the 2020 Olympics, David’s answer is “probably not”.

In case you didn’t know, the middle blocker has won Olympic gold in 2008 and Olympic bronze in 2016. He has 2 World League titles under his belt, 2008 and 2014. Last year, he and his team won the FIVB World Cup.

Pretty much, a World Championship medal will complete his collection.
