Alexey Spiridonov In A Spitting Incident

October 18th, 2014

Almost a month after the reported spitting incident, the issue still has not died down.

According to some reports, the FIVB is still investigating the incident and will make a final decision at the end of this month. On the other hand, Spiri continues to deny the incident.

He tells Business Online:

“I have already stated that nothing like that happened. Do not be surprised if the person does not even exist and that everything is just part of the imagination of Polish journalists.

If the FIVB would decide to punish me, it would not be anything strange. I can just ask them – if journalists wrote that I killed that fan, would you still believe them?

All of this is just ridiculous!”

While waiting for the decision, Alexey has already started training and playing for the new season with Russian club team Zenit Kazan.

UPDATE: According to some sources, Spiri spit on someone who was getting political. The victim reportedly screamed “Free Crimea!” after the match. If you love reading the news, for sure you know about the political crisis between Russia and Ukraine.

This better not be TRUE.

Reports have surfaced that after losing to Poland and missed their chance to play in the Semifinal Round, Russian outside hitter and 2013 European Champion Alexey Spiridonov reportedly spit on a fan.

The fan better file a complaint to the FIVB if he/she wants corrective actions to be taken.

It’s been a very disappointing World Championship for Spiri and Team. Take note, they were among the favorites to win the crown and now they are just playing in the 5th/6th Classification Match.

The last time Russia won a World Championship medal was in 2002 after losing a 5-set match versus Brazil.
