Bartosz Kurek VS Coach Antiga

It really looks like the rumors are TRUE.

For the first time in a very long time, we won’t be seeing Kurek playing for Poland.

Coach Stephane Antiga has revealed his final 14 player roster for the 2014 World Championship hosted by Poland and his list does NOT INCLUDE volleyball superstar, Bartosz Kurek.

Source tells Volleywood:

“I hate to say this but there is tension between Antiga and Kurek. It all started at the 2014 World League when Antiga DID NOT let Kurek play in the starting 6. Kurek wanted to play so bad but Antiga decided to try new players and veteran Winiarski. Kurek did not like Antiga’s system which eventually led to Kurek missing from the final roster during some matches.”

The source also adds that Antiga believes that Kurek is not in great shape and his presence is not needed on the team.

“Coach Antiga has evaluated all of his players and Kurek did not meet his expectations that’s why he is not on the team. A lot of fans are shocked and some are even mad with Antiga’s decision but some believe that the coach made the right choice.”

Poland 2014 World Championship Roster:

Setters: Fabian Drzyzga, Paweł Zagumny.
Opposite Hitters: Dawid Konarski, Mariusz Wlazly.
Outside Hitters: Rafał Buszek, Michał Kubiak, Mateusz Mika, Michał Winiarski.
Middle Blockers: Karol Kłos, Marcin Mozdzonek, Piotr Nowakowski, Andrzej Wrona.
Liberos: Krzysztof Ignaczak , Paweł Zatorski.

Aside from Kurek, the following stars are also missing on the team: Zbigniew Bartman, Lukasz Zygadlo, Michal Ruciak and Grzegorz Bociek.

Do you think Poland will MEDAL at the World Championship without Kurek?
