Japan’s V-League Welcomes Saori Kimura

There’s no place like home…

The Queen of Japanese Volleyball Saori Kimura will return to Japan after spending 2 seasons in the Turkish League. The 2012 Olympic bronze medalist has signed on to play for her old club team, Toray Arrows. In case you didn’t know, Saori played for Troay from 2005-2012 before she went overseas.

A source familiar with the transfer tells Volleywood:

“It’s about time she returns to Japan and play in the V-League. I don’t think Saori enjoyed playing in Europe. She had a tough time with how Europeans play. If you notice she didn’t really shine in any of the teams she played for. She won Champions League and Turkish League with Vakifbank but then she was not a starter. Saori also had a so-so performance last season with Galatasaray.”

The source also adds that returning to Japan was a choice Saori discussed with national team head coach Manabe.

“Rumor has it that Coach Manabe really wants Saori to go back to Japan and play Japanese style volleyball. This is the perfect year to do that because the Olympics is only 2 years away.”

Volleyball fans are lucky because Saori has signed on to play for 2 seasons with Toray who finished 3rd last season.
