Sarah Pavan Switches To Beach VB

If it’s the ONLY way to make her Olympic dream come true, then DO IT girl!

Per FIVB:

Canada’s women’s beach volleyball programme is pleased to announce that volleyball standout Sarah Pavan will be joining the national beach volleyball programme this season. Pavan will partner with Heather Bansley and will compete in their first event at the FIVB World Tour stop in Argentina at the Corrientes Grand Slam event from May 22 to 26, 2013.

The 26 year old from Kitchener, Ontario is one of Canada’s most celebrated indoor women’s volleyball players. Pavan, the 6’5”right side player was a four-time First Team All-American at the University of Nebraska, who led her team to an NCAA title in 2006.

Following her college career, Sarah played for a number of top professional indoor volleyball teams around the world and is currently a member of the Rio de Janeiro based team Unilever in the Brazilian League, who won the League Championship this year. Sarah has been a member of the Canadian Women’s National Indoor Volleyball Team throughout the years, winning numerous awards, including “best scorer” at the 2012 NORCECA Olympic Qualification Tournament.

Sarah is no stranger to beach volleyball. She competed in the Beach Volleyball National Championships in her youth and was the U20 silver medallist. Pavan also played for Nebraska in the Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championships prior to it being sanctioned by the NCAA. Bansley and Pavan will be training in California before heading to Argentina.

Pavan is the newest addition to the Women’s Beach Volleyball programme, which is already starting to see great results already on the road to Rio 2016.

From what we understand, Sarah has not retired from indoor volleyball. She will return to professional indoor volleyball when the beach season ends.

We hope it all works out for her!
