NCAA Volleyball Fight Between 2 Coaches

Drama!

So the University of Washington beat Nebraska in 4 to earn a ticket in the Elite Round of 8. While the Huskies were celebrating their victory against the Cornhuskers, both coaches CREATED A BIG FIGHTING SCENE!

According to THIS ARTICLE we’ve found, Washington’s coach McLaughlin had to be restrained by several UW officials and at least one police officer while he tried to go after the Cornhuskers coach. Nebraska’s John Cook said something to McLaughlin during the post-match handshake, and the scene that followed tarnished an evening that should have been all about celebration.

McLaughlin has declined to comment about the incident while Cook told the press that the words he said to McLaughlin were “Great Match. The ball was in..” and then BOOM BOOM POW! Then the fighting scene started to take place…The ball in question — one of several points that seemed to spark Cook’s ire throughout the night — came with Nebraska leading the fourth set 27-26 and one point away from sending the region semifinal match into a fifth and final set. UW senior Kindra Carlson hit a ball near the baseline, and the Cornhuskers began celebrating because they thought it had gone out.

To make the long story short, Washington keeps their NCAA dreams alive while Nebraska is going home (maybe tomorrow?).

On a happy note, we admire this pic from our friend Ryan Craven:

Ryan says this is a pic of Kindra (UW) and Lindsey (Nebraska) who are BFFs from a high school club. Lindsey was very emotional about tonight because she’s a senior. This is class at it’s best! Good people right there!

We totally agree! If players showed this act of sportsmanship in front of everyone then how come their coaches FAILED TO SHOW IT? Sad.

In every match, there’s always a WINNER and a LOSER. Right Mr. Cook?

Good luck to the Huskies!
