Brazil’s 2012 Roster

Mmmmm what is Mari doing on this list?

We kid! We kid! You know we love Mari but we just hope she can inject an extra dosage of greatness for her performance. Girlfriend has underperformed lately.

Coach Guimaraes has chosen the same players except he has added a new setter on his list named Fernandinha, who played in Azerbaijan this season, to replace Ana Tiemi. Still no Carol Gattaz? We thought she did well this season. It’s great to see Natalia on the roster even if she didn’t get to play any match at the recently concluded Superliga. We wonder if she’s in shape to play again. It seems like Natalia’s Olympic dream might not come true this year.

Anyways, here’s the roster:

Setters: Fabíola (Sollys/Nestlé); Fernandinha (Azerbaijão); Dani Lins (Unilever)

Opposite Hitters: Sheilla (Unilever) and Tandara (Sollys/Nestlé)

Outside Hitters: Mari and Natália (Unilever); Jaqueline (Sollys/Nestlé); Sassá (Sesi-SP), Fernanda Garay and Paula Pequeno (Volei Futuro)

Middle Blockers: Thaisa, Adenízia (Sollys/Nestlé), Juciely (Unilever), and Fabiana (Fenerbahce)

Liberos: Fabi (Unilever) and Camila Brait (Sollys/Nestlé)

In case you didn’t know, Brazil has NOT qualified for the Olympics since they failed to finish in the top 3 at the 2011 World Cup which was won by Italy, USA and China.

Coach ZRG and his team will host & compete at the upcoming South American Olympic Qualification from May 9th – 13th, 2012 against their rivals Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay and Chile. Obviously, Brazil is the FAVORITE to win. Well, they better win!

We wish the defending Olympic Champions the best this season and we hope every player remains healthy!

THOUGHTS?
