Poland’s 2012 Roster

No Wlazly? No Plinski? Coach Anastasi has lots of explaining to do!

Well at least our idol Nowakowski is on the list!

Below is Coach Anastasi’s 2012 World League Preliminary Roster.

Outside hitters:

Michał Kubiak
Bartosz Kurek
Mateusz Mika
Michał Ruciak
Michał Winiarski
Wojciech Ferens
Wojciech Żaliński

Setters:

Fabian Drzyzga
Grzegorz Łomacz
Paweł Woicki
Paweł Zagumny
Łukasz Żygadło

Opposites:

Zbigniew Bartman
Jakub Jarosz
Dawid Konarski
Bartosz Krzysiek

Middle blockers:

Karol Kłos
Marcin Możdżonek
Piotr Nowakowski
Łukasz Wiśniewski
Andrzej Wrona
Grzegorz Kosok

Libero:

Krzysztof Ignaczak
Damian Wojtaszek
Paweł Zatorski

We love how Zibi is getting used to playing as an opposite hitter but we all know that the most effective hitter in the position Poland has ever had is Mariusz Wlazly, the MVP of the 2011/2012 Champions League. So how come Wlazly is NOT on the roster? Well didn’t he reject Anastasi’s invitation to play last season? Didn’t Wlazly state he won’t play for the National Team due to various reasons?

Whatever the reasons are, we still think that Poland has a BETTER shot of winning a medal at the 2012 Olympics with Wlazly. In all fairness to Zibi, we know he’d play his best to help his team.

Also, how come Plinski didn’t make the list? Politics? Drama? Conflict?
