Andrea Bari Is Injured

This is SAD!

The men’s World Cup hasn’t started yet and someone is already injured.

Italian libero and the best libero at the 2011 European Championship, Andrea Bari, suffered a shoulder injury earlier today when he collided with teammate Simone Parodi. The libero who plays for Trentino Volley will go through a series of medical tests to determine if the injury is serious or not.

To be safe, Coach Berruto has already called Gabriel Maruotti to join them in Tokyo, Japan just in time before the tournament starts on the 20th. As far we know, Gabriel doesn’t play as a libero but he’s more of like a passing specialist/ outside hitter. We hope his presence will stabilize Italy’s defense and reception.

We hope Bari stays in Japan and can play for his team. His absence would really affects Italy chances of finishing in the Top 3.

Side Dish: Italy’s 2011 World Cup Roster: Setters: Travica, Boninfante/ OHs: Savani, Zaytsev, Parodi, Rosso/ Opposite: Lasko, Sabbi, Fei/ MBs: Mastro, Bira, Buti/ Liberos: Bari, Giovi
