Yamamoto Is Injured

What would Japan do now?

Their best middle blocker is injured and will need 6 months of more to recover. The very experienced Ai Yamamoto twisted her right knee when she attempted for a backslide against Sri Lanka at the ongoing Women’s Asian Championship according to a source. Doctors said that Ai damaged her anterior cruciate ligament & medial collateral ligament and will need to have surgery immediately.

She has returned to Japan.

This Sucks!

Ai’s absence will for sure affect Japan’s chances of winning the Asian Crown. They will also miss her at the 2011 World Cup which is the first Olympic Qualification tournament. With Inoue also injured, the only remaining solid middle blocker Japan has at the moment is Erika Araki. We wonder who would take Ai’s spot.
