It looks like we won’t be seeing Gamova anytime soon.
The Russian legend is NOT going to play with Russia in the upcoming 2015 European Champs which starts tomorrow. She is reportedly suffering a minor injury and not in the best shape to compete.
Coach Yuri’s roster for the biennial tournament has the same core players from the recently concluded World Cup with Russia finishing 4th.
2015 European Championship Roster:
Opposite Hitters: Obmochaeva, Malykh
Outside Hitters: Kosheleva, Pasynkova, Shcherban, Ilchenko
Middle Blockers: Fetisova, Lyubushkina, Orlova, Zaryazhko
Liberos: Malova, Kuzyakina
According to russiavolley.com, Shcherban is INJURED. She will not travel with the team BUT remains on the final roster.
As for our Euro Volley prediction, Russia will have to remain consistent to defend their crown. Russia is in our top 3 together with Italy and Serbia.
