NCAA MVP Micha Hancock Replaces Alisha Glass

Can we say that Micha is having the BEST WEEK ever?

NCAA Champion and 2014 Player Of The Year, Micha Hancock, has signed her first professional volleyball contract with Italian club team Prosecco Doc-Imoco CONEGLIANO. The setter who had an amazing collegiate career with Penn State University replaces World Champion Alisha Glass who is injured.

During last week’s press conference, Micha could not contain her excitement.

Per cev.lu:

“I am very happy to be here; this is my first experience playing professional Volleyball and I am determined to start well. I already have a good feeling coming here. I have spoken to Alisha because we have both played for the same college at Penn State and she has told me that she is doing well here in Italy. I can rely on her advice and therefore it is going to be easier for me to fit into the team.”

She also shared her penchant for Italian food.

“I have been to Milano and Venice before, but I do not know that much about Italy. This contract will be an opportunity for me to get a better understanding of this country and if there is some time for it, I will go for sightseeing. I like Italian food, especially pasta and pizza, so from that perspective everything is going to be alright and I am very much looking forward to trying Prosecco, the local wine! There is going to be some differences on the court because here they are used to set the ball a little higher than we do in the USA, but I am confident that I can adjust to this way of playing.”

On her first pro contract:

“I am very curious and not afraid of this world at all. I am here to improve my skills and especially to win with this team. Before coming here I was at a camp with the national team following the NCAA finals that I won last December with Penn State. I was training there when I was contacted for this opportunity and I accepted the offer of CONEGLIANO with a lot of enthusiasm.”
