Replay: USA vs Brazil
Relive the moments!
Almost 7 months ago, Brazil captured its second consecutive Olympic gold medal in women’s volleyball versus the world’s #1 team, USA.
In case you didn’t know, Brazil struggled throughout the preliminary round against USA (1-3), Korea (0-3), Turkey (3-2), China (3-2) and Serbia (3-0). If USA gave the match away to Turkey, then Brazil would’ve missed the Quarterfinal Round.
That would’ve been the saddest headline in Brazilian Volleyball!
Through the fire and through the storm, Sheilla, Jaqueline, Thaisa, Fabi, Fe Garay, Fabiana, Dani Lins and the Brazilians prevailed against Russia in the Quarterfinal match (3-2), defeated Japan (3-0) in the Semifinals and then triumphed against the top favorite USA in the Gold Medal Match.
In case you missed it or want to watch it again…

I had the pleasure and the honour to provide the official match statistics for this game. Definitely a highlight in my Volleyball career. I was at the players entrance end of the court when the Brazilian’s celebrated
I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been to watch such an incredible and unforgetable match. =D
Well in 2010 at the World Championship USA and Brazil were favorites, Russia was the def. champions but did not played in the Grand Prix, had some new players like Kosheleva and Startseva. It was a ???? of how Russia would do, but they surprised everybody got back the tille.
In the 2011 World Cup, Brasil, USA, Serbia were favorites.
Italy were not a favorite at all, but came from nowhere and got back the tittle.
2012 London OG, USA, Italy, Russia were “favorites”, nobody really tought that Brazil would win. But as a surprise they got the Gold again.
2014 World Championship – Will Russia win again???????
Russia will definitely win the title in 2014.
Yes, a lot of people have pointed out that if the USA had lost their match against Turkey on purpose, then Brazil would have never gotten the chance to get a second gold medal. That’s true, of course.
HOWEVER, how glorious would it be for the USA to maybe get their first Olympic gold by such fraudulent means? (And I say maybe because if it weren’t for Brazil, the Russians would’ve gotten a real shot at a gold medal as well.) There would be no real glory at all. In fact, it would be a terrible and unforgivable shame for Team USA! So I’m glad they have kept their fair-play through out London 2012. This is actually what the Olympic Games are all about, aren’t they?
Team USA didn’t get the gold medal because it wasn’t the right time yet. I wonder when it will be?. The girls are always disappointing when it comes to major tournaments like World Championship, World Cup and The Olympic Games. They always seem to collapse when they must not do it. The record speaks for itself. But it will be a pleasure to beat Brazil at their home. Let’s shut up the fans at Maracanazinho girls!.
Sonha bastante !!
Vamos ser TRIIIIII !!!!
You wish.
nice
Let’s Keep watch at 2016 i hope Logan’s will be there …
We are assigned three missions at RIO 2016. First one is to win our first olympic title. Second one is getting even with Brazil beating them at their home. The third one is preventing them from being the second team to make a hat-trick in the olympics (only Cuba did it so far). All I can think of now is the World Championship 2014. I hope team USA kicks the brazilian butts and win the title before them.
You wish.
