We Remember Arek Gołaś



Arkadiusz Gołaś (May 10, 1981 – September 16, 2005) died of a car accident on the Austrian motorway A2 in Griffen near Klagenfurt. Arek was a Polish volleyball player, Olympic athlete and was a member of the Polish National Team from 2001-2005.

In 2006 he was posthumously awarded with the Golden Cross of Merit for his sports achievements.

During his early years, Arek achieved the following:.

MKS MOS Wola Warszawa (1996–2000):

bronze medal of the world championships of cadets (1999)
silver medal of the Polish championship of cadets (1998)
silver medal of the Polish championship of juniors (1999)
Champion of Poland of juniors (2000)

AZS Częstochowa (2000–2004):

triple vice-champion of Poland
third in championships drown the place in Top Teams Cup (2002),
bronze medal winner of the Polish championship (2004)
participant of the Olympics in Athens 2004 (5 place)
Sempre Volley Padua (2004/2005)
Lube Banca Marche Macerata (2005)
