The Royal Volley Diaries…

If any royal family decides to check out volleyball in the US, we hope they’d give us enough notice so we can practice our royal bow and royal wave.

In the last month, royal families have really helped volleyball gain more popularity across Europe.

King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium paid a royal visit to the city of Maaseik & also took time to check out the the local home of volleyball. The royal couple was welcomed by Noliko Maaseik’s head coach Vital Heynen.

Watch the video below:

In case you didn’t know, Maaseik advanced to the Playoffs 6 2011 CEV Champions League and later on they claimed the National crown. Noliko Maaseik is Belgium’s most successful club team & the team’s success has already found a place in Belgium’s volleyball history.

Amazing!

While Belgian volley fans enjoyed the royal visit, Dutch fans also found a reason to celebrate after Princess Maxima, the wife of Prince Willem-Alexander, was named as an ambassadress  for volleyball during The Queen’s Day celebration in The Netherlands – a national holiday celebratedcwith flea markets, music festivals and much more taking place in every single village and town, with quite many orange gadgets to be seen almost everywhere out there. Princess Maxima accompanied Queen Beatrix as they visited 2 towns  Weert and Thorn in the region of Limburg.

Thank you King Albert II, Queen Paola & Princess Maxima!
